    The celebration for Christmas begins on the eve of December and continues till the New Year’s Day. During this entire period, people make merry, party with friends, exchange season's greetings and gifts with dear ones.

     In India, most Christians celebrate Christmas by putting up a large star outside their home and make a miniature crib as well.

     Traditional Christmas colors are green, red, and gold.

     Green represents the evergreen plants, like Holly, ivy, etc. It have been used thousands of years to decorate and brighten up buildings during the long dark winter

     Red is also the colour of Holly Berries, which is said to represent the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross.

     Gold is the colour of the sun and light- both very important in the dark winter both red and gold are colour of fire that you need to keep warm during winter.

     One of the earliest records of candles being used at Christmas is from the middle ages, where a large candle was used to represent the star of Bethlehem. Jesus is sometimes called 'the Light of the World' by Christians.

     The date for Christmas 25th December was chosen by Pope Julius I, bishop of Rome in 350 A.D.
