Vaastu Tips for East Facing House

Direction East is one of the most auspicious direction according to the Vastu. Sunrises from the east, and hence it brings powerful positive energy to the house or plot facing east.

East facing properties are sold-rented at a faster pace when compared to those with other different side facings

Location of the Main entrance, Kitchen, Bedrooms, Open Space, Living Room / Area, Dining Room, Toilet, Bathroom, Swimming Pool, Garage, Gym, Terrace, Staircase, garden, etc. should be carefully accommodated while designing an East facing the house.

Vastu Shastra for East Facing House:

 Imagine dividing the east length of the house into 9 equal parts, from the north-east to the south-east. Each part is called a ‘pada’ or a step, the pada in the north-east corner is 1st, while the one in the south-east corner is 9th.

 The 5th pada, the one in the middle is the most auspicious location for the main door in an east-facing the house. It is the location of the Sun, the God of fame, it ensures that the residents earn a good name and fame.

 If the 5th pada is small, you can place the entrance in the 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th pada.

 The four padas, 3, 4, 6, and 7 can be used for the main entrance if the 5th pada is too small on its own. But is always best to include the 5th pada in the arrangement.

 The padas 1 and 2 in the north-east are prohibited. But if you have no other option but to build the main entrance in the north-east corner, you have nothing to worry about. No harm will come to you, but you will not be receiving any benefit either.

 The 8th and 9th padas are strictly prohibited, as it is the south-east from where all illnesses make their way into the house.

 The walls to the north and east should be slightly shorter and thinner than the walls to the south and west.

 Pooja Room should be in the north-east of the house. Face should be towards the east-facing while praying to God.

 A ceiling of the Pooja Room should be lower than other rooms.

 The staircase should be in the south-facing, then it always is clockwise if turning.

 The kitchen should be in the south-east facing. The sink for cleaning utensils should be in the north-east.

 A terrace in the Northeast portion is always beneficial.

 Not all the trees should be in the north-east, south-west can be used for planting trees. A lawn in the north is beneficial.

 Balconies should be in the north-east direction and never in the south-west as the sun rays at the morning are beneficial.

What should you avoid in an east facing house:

    • Do not place a front door in the 8th and 9th padas.

    • Avoid building bathrooms in the north-east corner.

    • Avoid having a staircase in the north-east side of the house.

    • Do not build a kitchen in the north-east corner.

    • Avoid having big trees to the north and east of the house.

    • Do not have dustbins, or garbage dumps towards the north-east of the house.
