Vastu Tips For A South Facing House
A south facing house is one in which the main entrance door opens on to the south. According to Vaastu Shastra, all directions are equal, but the main entrance should ideally be north or east facing for the maximum benefit of the family. If you do, however, have a south facing house, don’t worry. Here are some valuable ideas pertaining to vaastu for home. If you follow these vaastu tips, you will be able to live long and prosper like the number of high achievers and celebrities who also live in homes with a south facing entrance.
South West Facing Entrance
A south west facing entrance can potentially attract negative energy. A lot of people go on to call it the devil energy as it usually brings in misfortune and struggles to the family. If the wealth energy of this house is strong, the homeowner will have a prosperous period for the first three or four years before things begin to go downhill. To rectify this vaastu-inappropriate construction, fix two tiles of Hanumanji holding a gada or club in his left hand on either side of the doorway. Gems like yellow sapphires or other earth crystals, and lead can also be placed strategically to minimise the severity of this defect.
South East Facing Entrance
If the entrance door of the house faces south east, you can stick the Gayatri Mantra on either side of it. Generally, a door facing south east is believed to bring in illness, anger, and legal disputes. Gems like yellow sapphires and coral can be used to reduce the negative effects of a south east facing door, and so will the metal copper.
Direct South Facing Entrance
If the doorway of the house faces the south directly, it brings in sharp disruptions like disagreements and arguments, but in general, a south facing door signifies a high degree of social activity. This can be rectified by placing the two Hanumanji tiles on either side. You could also install cat’s eye gems in some form or the metal lead.
However, there is an exception when it comes to direct south facing entrance. If the south facing entrance is located on the 4th pada, that is, the fourth of the nine sections of the wall facing south, it is supposed to be very auspicious and beneficial to the inhabitants of the house.
General Vaastu Guidelines for the Home Entrance
• The main entrance door should be installed on an auspicious day, just after the Vastu Pooja.
• The entrance gate and the main door should be in alignment.
• It is preferable to have two doors – a front door for entry and a back door for exit.
• The main entrance door should be the largest door in the house.
• The main entrance door should open inwards and clockwise.
• The main door should have a threshold.
Other Points to Remember
The main door in your home should not directly face another house’s entrance. Also, there should not be a lamp-post or tree towards the main door’s front. Another point to note here is to not place the entrance in front of an abandoned building. Also, make sure that there isn’t septic or underground tank under the entrance. Install a self-closing door and ensure that it does not creak.
There is plenty to choose from and you will find a home that you and the family loves. The best part is, there is Nimmadhi.
